The International Para Swimming Trophy – Gran Premi Diputació de Barcelona will celebrate his fifth anniversary fully consolidated in Barcelona. The hallmark and its great appeal is the inclusive character of the competition, where athletes with and without disability compete all together.
More than 300 swimmers took part in the last edition of the Gran Premi Diputació de Barcelona. Not only athletes from Spain came to the excellent facilities of Club Natació Barcelona. Also swimmers from Austria, United Kingdom, Morocco or Italy came to the Trophy to face off the best Para Swimming stars.
It's motivating. Having someone by your side without disabilities helps you want to beat him.
Paralympic champions like Sarai Gascón, Núria Marquès, Toni Ponce and Óscar Salguero are habitual in the tournament. In fact, Gascón, Marquès and Ponce got world records in one of their favourite swimming pool. Toni Shaw, one of the most talented swimmers from Scotland, came last year to compete against Sarai Gascón and Núria Marquès.
But is not only about elite in the International Para Swimming Trophy – Gran Premi Diputació de Barcelona. A lot of young athletes with and without disability take the chance to come to Barcelona to enjoy an inclusive competition with an excellent atmosphere, just in front of the beach.
