United Kingdom, Greece and Netherlands, favourites in the European Regional Open

United KingdomGreece and Netherlands national teams, under the leadership of David SmithGrigorios Polychronidis and Dani Pérez, are the most favourites to get more metals in the competition, from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th in Sant Cugat.


Catalan athletes Ferran Ribas (BC1), Benito Sánchez (BC2), Wafid Boucherit (BC3), Amal Tsouli (BC3), and local player, Àlex Trullas (BC4) will take part of the Spanish National Team.

Benito Sánchez spoke in the press conference about the “difficulty of the competition, with United Kingdom and Netherlands taking part”. Also, Benito considered that this tournament “it’s a great opportunity to get points for the BISFed ranking because is the first opportunity this year”.

Approximately 300 people will come to Sant Cugat on the easter because of the Boccia European Regional Open. Players, team staff, referees, volunteers and members of the organization will meet in a city 10 km from Barcelona.


Eloi Rovira, councilor for Sport and Youth, was satisfied to organize an International Boccia competition again, like in 2015. Rovira talked about the desire of the city “to host sports adapted to normalize it“, taking into account that “Sant Cugat has been making efforts to be an accessible city“. “Sant Cugat want to give everyone the opportunity to access sport” he finalized.
